Title Info:
Developer: Ubisoft Romania
Release Date: Mar 21, 2007
Rating: Teen (Content suitable for ages 13 and older) Mild Language, Violence
Blazing Angels - Squadrons of WWII is a rather interesting title for the Wii system. The graphics of this game are pretty reasonable on a regular TV. The controls are fair, though not great. For example, trying to make a tight turn, you pull back on the joystick to slow down, tilt the nunchuck to one side to bank, and turn the nunchuck on the horizontal axis to turn your rudder. It works fine until you reach a certain point on the numchuck where it seems to negate itself, or no longer respond. When it comes to trying to evade shots, or turn the tables on the enemy plane, that can be frustrating.
What shoots this game down completely though, is that you cannot save your progress and stop playing during a mission. This can be frustrating trying to complete a mission, getting tired, and having to start from the beginning of the mission going through everything you already accomplished after shutting down for the day, or switching to another game to relax. You can keep restarting from the last checkpoint you reach, but not after quitting the game and restarting later in the day.
The game does play fairly well, and has a good storyline, other than this major shortcoming.

You are very welcome. I got a lot of good information from The Spot when setting up my home theater system. Maybe I can return some of that here with some honest opinions. Those are some neat graphics that were added.

Thanks
If you edit your post you can see how they were tagged.
If you'd like to put up reviews for games, we can certainly use the input.
If you do edit that to look, just make sure to select Use Markup in the language pull down before you hit submit, so it displays the way it is above.
I'm working on a general review template, and when I have it done, I'll get it to you for any you want to put up.
Thanks again, we appreciate your input and help!

I do not appear to have an option to edit the previous posts, even though they are mine. Another minor issue is that I cannot see the post I am replying to. It is not on the screen after selecting to Post a Reply, although I'm sure I could open a new tab or window to view the originals. However, if you do have a template to use, I would be willing to try that. Is there a particular place to get the screenshots from?

Oh, it was fun, no doubt. There are multiple ways to control the planes. You can use a combo of nunchuck and wiimote either nunchuck or wiimote centric. Or you can elect to use just the nunchuck or just the wiimote. I went with the default nuncheck centric and wiimote combo.
But it gets frustrating when you have to restart from the very beginning of the mission if you hit a tough spot later into the mission that you are having difficulty getting past, and want to break for the day, or play something relaxing before picking up again. Once you leave the game, you lose restarting at the last checkpoint you succeeded at reaching. I'm glad the game was a rental/club game.

Neilk,
When you click on Reply, look towards the bottom of the reply page. You'll find a Topic Review link, that says click to review topics in this post. That will show you the thread and replies up to your reply your working on.
I go to the manufactures/studio where the game comes from to grab screenshots, as they are specific from them. You should be able to edit your own post, if you can't, let me know and I'll take a look.

I've been looking for a flyer game. Have there been any better ones than this one. It looks good from the pictures.
